STARZ DEBUTS ALL-NEW TRAILERS OF HIGH-SEAS DRAMA "BLACK SAILS" AND ACTION ADVENTURE SERIES "DA VINCI'S DEMONS" AT NEW YORK COMIC CON

Today STARZ released an all new trailer of its hotly anticipated drama, "Black Sails," as well as the first-ever trailer for the anticipated second season of "Da Vinci's Demons" at New York Comic Con. "Black Sails" is a STARZ Original series from executive producer Michael Bay premiering on STARZ in January 2014. The second season of "Da Vinci's Demons," created by David S. Goyer (co-writer of The Dark Knight trilogy, screenwriter of Man of Steel) will return to STARZ in Spring 2014.

The eight-episode first season of "Black Sails" centers on the tales of Captain Flint and his men, and takes place twenty years prior to Robert Louis Stevenson's classic "Treasure Island." Toby Stephens (Die Another Day) stars as Flint, the most brilliant and most feared pirate captain of his day, who takes on a fast-talking young addition to his crew who goes by the name John Silver. Threatened with extinction on all sides, they fight for the survival of New Providence Island, the most notorious criminal haven of its day - a debauched paradise teeming with pirates, prostitutes, thieves and fortune seekers, a place defined by both its enlightened ideals and its stunning brutality.

Season two of "Da Vinci's Demons" finds Florence thrown into chaos in the wake of the Pazzi conspiracy and Leonardo da Vinci (Tom Riley) must push the limits of his mind and body to defend the city against the forces of Rome. While the Medicis go to unthinkable lengths to deal with new threats, da Vinci continues on his quest to find the fabled Book of Leaves and uncover the secret history of his mother. He'll come to realize that he has lethal competition in his quest -- new enemies who may be even worse than the forces of Pope Sixtus. His search will take him to faraway lands and force him to reevaluate everything he knew about the world and his own history.

"Black Sails" is executive produced by Michael Bay (Transformers, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor) and his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, producers on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) and Nightmare on Elm Street (2009). The series was created by showrunner and executive producer Jon Steinberg (creator "Jericho," "Human Target") and co-executive producer Robert Levine ("Touch"). It has already been greenlit for a second season.

STARZ greenlit "Da Vinci's Demons" for a second season following its record-setting first season weekend debut on STARZ on Friday, April 12. The historical fantasy created by David S. Goyer and produced by Adjacent Productions, follows the 'untold' story of the world's greatest genius, Leonardo da Vinci, during his turbulent youth in Renaissance Florence. Outside of the United States and English-speaking Canada, "Da Vinci's Demons" is distributed internationally by BBC Worldwide. Fox International Channels (FIC) acquired the first season of the series and premiered it to audiences in 120 countries in Latin America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa following Starz's exclusive premiere in the U.S.
