Two Awkward Souls, One Unlikely Connection: 'Romantics Anonymous' Trailer and Key Art Hint at a Tangled Love Square
How can a love story blossom between a man afraid of physical contact and a woman who's terrified of eye contact? Streaming on October 16, Romantics Anonymous follows Sosuke (Shun Oguri) and Hana (Han Hyo-joo), two adults who have long stumbled through life avoiding romance - until a fateful encounter over chocolate changes everything. In a twist, these two seem immune to each other's anxieties, setting the stage for a perfectly imperfect love story brought to life by a star-studded cast and creators from Japan and Korea.
Romantics Anonymous is a heartwarming romantic comedy series about finding connection later in life. The main trailer shows Sosuke, the newly appointed president of chocolaterie Le Sauveur, meeting Hana, the shop's secret, anonymous chocolatier, for the first time. Sosuke, unable to touch others, and Hana, who avoids eye contact, clash at every turn. Yet when they're together, they find themselves able to overcome their respective fears. As colleagues and "romance-practice partners," they gradually form a special connection and take brave steps they often find themselves unready for.
The newly released key art hints at more than just a simple romance, however: a "love square" emerges as Hana's secret feelings for Hiro (Jin Akanishi), a jazz bar owner and Sosuke's friend, and the presence of therapist Irene (Yuri Nakamura) complicate the story. Each of these clumsy adults, despite spending their lives hiding secrets and keeping others at arm's length, finds a reason to change themselves for someone else. The resulting romantic chemistry and emotional growth promise a series that viewers won't want to miss.
Romantics Anonymous was invited to the 30th Busan International Film Festival's On Screen Section, where the first two episodes premiere tonight. Get ready for life's sweetest romance when it streams globally on October 16, only on Netflix.
