EMMY AWARD-WINNING "EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION" BUILDS A NEW HOUSE FOR THE 100TH FAMILY IN A SPECIAL TWO-PART EDITION, SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 25 ON ABC

Eight Families from Previous Builds Worked as Special Volunteers

"Swenson-Lee Family," Parts 1 & 2 -- The Swenson-Lee family of Minnetonka, MN, received the remarkable news that Ty and the gang will build them a home with adequate living space for their newly formed family of 10. Marking the show's 100th family to receive a new home, this special two-part edition of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" airs SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 25 (7:00-8:00 & 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Vicki and Erik Swenson-Lee were living a normal and financially stable life until tragedy struck on September 22, 2006. Vicki's sister, Teri Lee, was murdered in her home by Teri's estranged ex-boyfriend, leaving behind four children -- Taylor (12), her younger sister, Tara (6) and two sons, Ty (10) and Trevor (8). The children were now orphans because their father had been killed in a car accident in 2001.

Vicki has tried to turn this tragedy into an opportunity to help protect women and children from domestic violence. In honor of her late sister, she has helped write two bills that have recently been passed into legislation. Both will hopefully save many lives.

The Swenson-Lees invited their four nieces and nephews to become part of their immediate family. Vicki and Erik have three young daughters and are expecting a fourth in November. Their current home is too small, and they're afraid their teachers' salaries won't be sufficient to raise eight children. Due to financially difficulties, Vicki and Erik can't afford to renovate their small home to make it large enough for everyone.

Having overcome a great deal of pain and hardship in the past several years, it's time for this family to be rewarded for their strength and courage. While Ty, the designers, local builder TJB Homes, Inc., and hundreds of volunteers and workers are rebuilding their home in just seven days, the Swenson-Lee family will go on vacation in Disneyland.

The design team for this episode will feature team leader Ty Pennington and designers Paul DiMeo, Michael Moloney, Paige Hemmis and Tracy Hutson. Also notable for this build, family members from eight previous episodes over the years turn out to work as special volunteers.

This season every episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is going green by incorporating eco-friendly, low-energy and recyclable resources in the builds. On "Swenson-Lee Family," a rain garden was built -- a planted depression designed to take excess rainwater run-off from house plants, absorb other excess water and return water vapor to the atmosphere.

The series is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. It's executive-produced by Denise Cramsey. David Goldberg is the president of Endemol USA. "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is broadcast with Spanish subtitles via secondary closed captioning. This program carries a TV-PG parental guideline.

This episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" will be available on ABC.com the day after airing on the network for users to watch online.

DESCRIPTION:
(from ABC's web site, March 2009) Put together one very run-down house, a deserving family, several opinionated designers, seven days and what do you get? The answer is Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The show has won two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Reality Program, plus two People's Choice Awards and the Family Television Award for Best Alternative/Reality Program. For the fifth straight season, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition ranked No. 1 in its Sunday 8:00clock time period in the key Adult 18-49 sales demographic. During the 2007-08 TV sason, Home Edition beat its nearest competition in the hour by 19% in Total Viewers and by 15 % in Adults 18-49. The broad appealing unscripted series also led its time slot among Adults 25-54 and across all key women demographics (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54). For Season Six, with the year-long theme of "Heroes," the show will open in Maryland and feature a single mother of four who is struggling to keep all of her 10 nieces and nephews out of the foster care system (14 kids total). There's nowhere Extreme Makeover: Home Edition won't go to help a family in need. This season expect to see more extreme homes, the latest in extreme technology, and families with more immediate need for a home than ever before. In addition, there will be "green" elements built into every episode, with eco-friendly, low energy and recyclable sources being incorporated into designs. Each episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is self-contained and features a race against time on a project that would ordinarily take at least four months to achieve, involving a team of designers, contractors and several hundred workers who all have just seven days to totally rebuild an entire house - every single room, plus the exterior and landscaping. The lives of the lucky families are forever changed when they learn that they've been selected to have their home walls moved, their floors replaced and even their facades radically changed. The result should be a decorator's delight...if it can be done in time. Each episode begins with team leader Ty Pennington's now-famous "Good morning!" wake-up call, when he, along with the other designers, surprises the unsuspecting family with news that their home has been chosen to receive a makeover. Then viewers witness not only the unbelievable transformation of the house, but during the final and emotional reveal, they see how the home makeover has impacted the lives of the deserving families. The design team includes team leader Ty Pennington, with designers Paul DiMeo, Paige Hemmis, Michael Moloney, Ed Sanders, Tracy Hutson, Eduardo Xol, John Littlefield, Rib Hillis and Didiayer Snyder. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. David Goldberg is president of Endemol USA. The new season's executive producer is Anthony Dominici (America's Next Top Model, The Amazing Race). The series premiered December 3, 2003.
