Bernie takes the entire family back to Chicago for the funeral of his beloved Uncle Elister. At first, Bernie is happy to be back in his old stomping ground with his Aunt Liva (Irma P. Hall) and other relatives, and the kids are excited about possibly seeing their mother again. The trip is marred, however, by Bernie's obnoxious cousin D (Don Cheadle), who tries to pull him into a get-rich-quick scheme.
