THE MADAM'S FAMILY: THE TRUTH ABOUT CANAL STREET BROTHEL, a new television movie starring Academy Award, Golden Globe Award and Tony Award winner Ellen Burstyn ("Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore," "Same Time, Next Year"), Annabella Sciorra ("The Sopranos") and Dominique Swain ("Lolita"), will be broadcast as the "CBS Sunday Movie" Sunday, Oct. 31 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. The movie is based on the true story of three generations of women who own and operate an unconventional family business -- a brothel in New Orleans that becomes a target of the FBI.

Burstyn stars as Tommie, an old time prostitute who answers the phone and keeps the books at the Canal Street Brothel, the family business owned and operated by her daughter, Jeannette (Sciorra). One of their most popular prostitutes is Jeannette's daughter Monica (Swain), who has learned the tricks of the trade all too well from her mother and grandmother. Monica hopes to break the cycle by keeping her own small daughter as far away from the family business as possible. However, with business, pleasure and family intertwined, it is difficult for any of the women to escape a destiny of their own design.

When one of their most valued clients, a well-known local doctor, is arrested for insurance fraud, he decides to sell out the ladies in an attempt to beat the rap. Although the women have always maintained a "clean" shop, the doctor accuses them of using the brothel for undercover drug trafficking and racketeering. Under heavy surveillance by the FBI, the women are arrested and threatened with jail time and Monica's child is taken away from her by Child Services. In a desperate struggle to save their family, Tommie, Jeannette and Monica must decide whether or not to reveal the high profile names in their little black book in order to save their own skins.

Ellen Burstyn was the first woman in history to win both the Tony Award and the Academy Award in the same year, 1975, for her work in "Same Time, Next Year" on Broadway and in the feature film "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore," for which she also received the Golden Globe Award and a British Academy Award for Best Actress. She has been nominated for an Academy Award five times, for "The Last Picture Show," "The Exorcist," "Same Time, Next Year," "Resurrection" and, most recently, for "Requiem for a Dream." Her other feature film credits include "Tropic of Cancer," "The King of Marvin Gardens," "Harry and Tonto," "Providence," "Twice in a Lifetime," "Hannah's War," "Dying Young," "The Cemetery Club," "When A Man Loves A Woman," "How To Make An American Quilt," "The Spitfire Grill" and "The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood." Her television credits include "That's Life," on the Network, "The People vs. Jean Harris" and "Pack of Lies."

Annabella Sciorra's feature film credits include "Jungle Fever," "The Hand That Rocks The Cradle," "Mr. Wonderful," "Romeo Is Bleeding," "The Addiction," "The Funeral," "Copland," "What Dreams May Come," "Domenica," "Whispers in the Dark," "Internal Affairs," "The Night We Never Met," "The Hard Way," "Once in the Life," "King of the Jungle," "Cadillac Man" and "True Love." She recently appeared on television in "The Sopranos."

Dominique Swain has appeared in the feature films "Lolita," "Girl," "The Intern," "The Smokers," "Happy Campers," "Tart," "Pumpkin," "Dead in the Water," "New Best Friend," "Briar Patch," "As Virgins Fall," "The Job," "Mean People Suck" and "Out of Season." Upcoming films include "The Freediver," "Devour" and "Vinyl."
