JULIA ROBERTS FALLS IN LOVE IN "MY BEST FRIEND'S WEDDING," A ROMANTIC COMEDY AIRING THURSDAY, DECEMBER 30 ON ABC

Julia Roberts, Dermot Mulroney and Cameron Diaz star in the hit romantic comedy, "My Best Friend's Wedding," airing in HDTV with 5.1-channel surround sound and video description as the "ABC Thursday Movie of the Week," DECEMBER 30 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network. (Rebroadcast. OAD: 5/8/00)

Julia Roberts ("Ocean's Twelve" and "Ocean's Eleven," "Erin Brockovich") is briefly reluctant when she thinks her best guy friend is calling to make good on a pact they made long ago to marry each other at age 28. But, when Dermot Mulroney ("About Schmidt," "Where the Money Is") calls, he calls her not to ask her to marry him, but to invite her to attend his wedding in three days to someone else (Cameron Diaz, "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle," "There's Something About Mary").

Whether because of insult or injury, the race is on as she dashes to his side -- and befriends the bubbling young bride -- in order to break up the engagement and win him for herself. Along the way, she enlists her handsome editor (Rupert Everett - his role won an American Comedy Award as Best Supporting Actor) to help her spark jealousy in her ex-beau.
