ABC'S HIT SHOW GOES BEHIND-THE-SCENES ON ITSELF IN THE PREMIERE EPISODE OF
"EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION: HOW'D THEY DO THAT?," MONDAY, JAN. 10
"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition: How'd They Do That? (Dore Family)" - The producers from "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" literally open every door to show how Ty Pennington and his team of designers, workers and contractors are able to change the lives of deserving families as they rebuild the entire interior and exterior of a run-down house in just seven days. "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition: How'd They Do That?" will premiere MONDAY, JANUARY 10 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.
On Sunday, January 9, viewers will witness how the EM:HE team spectacularly renovates the Kingston, Washington home of a widow, Roseanne Dore and her daughters - Jessica, 21, Sarah, 17, and Aariel, 13 . The family was dealt a tremendous blow when their home, originally built by Roseanne and her husband, burned to the ground in March 2004. Following the devastating news of the fire, Roseanne found out that their home insurance policy lapsed when their agent retired. The structure was uninhabitable. While figuring out what to do, Roseanne moved her three daughters into a half-built, backyard utility shed that had no plumbing, electricity or running water.
In the premiere episode, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition: How'd They Do That? (Dore Family)," the process of their particular home makeover is the subject.
As with all of the intense remodeling projects the show undertakes, there is a great deal that goes on that does not make it into the final broadcast. Now viewers can see all of that and more, including:
* How the design team had to travel by boat and ATV to reach the Dore's remote property to surprise them with news that their home has been chosen to receive a makeover.
* A look into the making of the "secret room" that Ty designs and builds for a family member -- in this case, a bed and breakfast area in a secret wing.
* Michael Moloney's struggles to find home design materials in a remote location and Preston Sharp's visit to a local glass blower who is making a custom chandelier.
* The adrenalin rush and the different emotions the EMHE team experiences as they work to meet seemingly impossible deadlines.
The design team for this episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition: How'd They Do That?" will feature team leader Ty Pennington, Paige Hemmis, Michael Moloney, Ed Sanders and Preston Sharp.
The show is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. The series is executive-produced by Tom Forman. The co-executive producer of this episode is Michael Maloy.
