The Bowl Championship Series continues, as No. 3 and undefeated Auburn clashes with No.12 Virginia Tech in the Nokia Sugar Bowl on MONDAY, JANUARY 3, 2004 from the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
ABC Sports coverage of the Nokia Sugar Bowl will be broadcast in High Definition Television (HDTV). The network's HDTV broadcast will air in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format.
ABC SPORTS COLLEGE FOOTBALL STUDIO GOES ON THE ROAD:
ABC Sports College Football Studio team of John Saunders, Craig James and Aaron Taylor will take the show on the road and be live on-site at the Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl and Orange Bowl for pre-game and halftime shows for the BCS bowls. They will set up and analyze each of the bowl games and will be joined by special guests throughout the telecasts. Tim Weinkauf is the producer and Calvin Haywood is the director of the ABC College Football Studio Show.

The Game: Monday's game will be the fifth football meeting between Auburn and Virginia Tech, with the Tigers holding a 2-1-1 advantage. Auburn stands first in both scoring offense and defense in the SEC. The Tigers will be playing its first Bowl Championship Series game in school history. The Tigers earned a berth by capturing the Southeastern Conference Championship, while the Hokies advanced as the Atlantic Coast Conference Champions. QB JASON CAMPBELL will be making his fourth consecutive bowl start in the Nokia Sugar Bowl. Campbell will join an elite group as he figures to become just the 15th quarterback in NCAA history to star in four consecutive bowl games. Auburn's head coach TOMMY TUBERVILLE was named the SEC Coach of the Year, while QB JASON CAMPBELL earned SEC Offensive Player of the Year honors. Auburn is first nationally in scoring defense holding opponents to 11.2 points per game. Virginia Tech will be making their third trip to the Nokia Sugar Bowl. The Hokies are ranked first in scoring offense and scoring defense in the ACC, while Virginia Tech's QB BRYAN RANDALL will provide leadership on offense. The D-line is anchored by JONATHAN LEWIS and JIM DAVIS.
