"Aladdin," one of Disney's greatest stories ever told will make its network television premiere as a presentation of "The Wonderful World of Disney," SATURDAY, JANUARY 22 (8:00-10:00 p.m. ET), on the ABC Television Network.

The magical fairytale is the story of Aladdin and his rags-to-riches adventures in the mythical Arabian kingdom, Agrabah. Along the way Aladdin has encounters involving a "wish-full" Genie, and a scheming power-hungry vizier, Jafar.

Posing as a rich and handsome prince, Aladdin fails to impress Princess Jasmine and discovers that it is his true self that she was interested in all along. With the assistance of his Genie pal, his pet monkey Abu and a magic carpet Aladdin sets out to win the heart of the beautiful Princess Jasmine. Aladdin strives to prove himself worthy by saving the kingdom from Jafar's evil plot and becoming the "master" of his own fate

The voice cast includes Robin Williams as the voice of Genie, Scott Weinger ("Full House") as the voice of Aladdin, Brad Kane as the singing voice for Aladdin, Linda Larkin as Princess Jasmine, Lea Salonga ("Miss Saigon") as the singing voice, Jonathan Freeman as Jafar, Gilbert Gottfried as Iago, Douglas Seale as the Sultan, Frank Welker as Abu/Rajah/Voice of Cave of Wonders.

Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken, Oscar-winning Howard Ashman, and Tony Award-winner Tim Rice collaborated to create five spectacular songs; "Arabian Nights," One Jump Ahead," "Friend Like Me," "Prince Ali," and "A Whole New World."

"Aladdin" was written, produced and directed by Ron Clements ("The Little Mermaid") and John Musker ("The Little Mermaid"). The screenplay was co-written by Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio ("Little Monsters," "Princess Mars."). The film's co-producers were Amy Pell and Don Ernst. Walt Disney Pictures presents "Aladdin."
