"The Fast and the Furious," the action-packed thriller exploring the underground world of illegal street racing, will air as an "ABC Saturday Night at the Movies" presentation, APRIL 16 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network. The movie stars Paul Walker ("Timeline," "2 Fast 2 Furious"), Vin Diesel ("A Man Apart," "XXX"), Michelle Rodriguez ("S.W.A.T.") and Jordana Brewster ("The Invisible Circus"), and will air in HDTV format with 5.1-channel surround sound and video description. In "The Fast and the Furious," an undercover cop (Paul Walker, "Timeline," "2 Fast 2 Furious") wins the trust of a star racer (Vin Diesel, "A Man Apart," "XXX") while investigating a string of multi-million-dollar truck hijackings. The pulse-pounding action takes place as the racers and hijackers push their custom hot rods through the streets at over 100 miles per hour.

Tanner, Johnny Strong as Leon, Matt Schulze as Vince, Ja Rule as Edwin, Vyto Ruginis as Harry, Thom Barry as agent Bilkins, Stanton Rutledge as Muse, Noel Gugliemi as Hector, R.J. de Vera as Danny Yamato, Beau Holden as Ted Gassner and Reggie Lee as Lance Nguyen.

"The Fast and the Furious," released in 2001, was directed by Rob Cohen ("Dragonheart," "The Skulls"). The screenplay was written by Gary Scott Thompson ("2 Fast 2 Furious," "Hollow Man"), Erik Bergquist and David Ayer ("S.W.A.T.," "Training Day") from the screen story by Thompson and based on the magazine article by Ken Li.
