LILLY RE-OPENS THE 1939 CASE OF A BLACK WOMAN ASSUMED TO BE A MURDERED PROSTITUTE, ON A REBROADCAST OF "COLD CASE," ON A SPECIAL NIGHT AND TIME, SATURDAY, APRIL 23 AT 9:00 PM

"The Letter" -- Rush and Valens re-open the case of a black woman assumed to be a murdered prostitute in 1939, on a rebroadcast of COLD CASE, on a special night and time, Saturday, April 23 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Tim Hunter directed the episode from a script by Veena Sud. (Originally broadcast 1/25/04)

When the womans granddaughter, Sarah, shows the detectives a letter she recently found intimating that her grandmother knew the identity of her killer, their investigation leads them to discover that Sadie was a proud, outspoken woman who refused to be treated like a second-class citizen because of her race. As a result, Sadie became a target of a local hate group, with two members repeatedly threatening her. As they delve deeper into Sadies personal life, Rush and Valens also learn that one of these men, Jonesy, was secretly in love with Sadie, and the couple was planning to run away together. After tracking down Jonesy, the detectives are convinced he can shed new light on the case.
