"The Sixth Sense," a riveting drama starring Bruce Willis as child psychologist Dr. Malcolm Crowe working with an apparently disturbed young boy (Haley Joel Osment), airs in HDTV with 5.1-channel surround sound as the "ABC Saturday Monday Movie of the Week," AUGUST 1 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network (rebroadcast. OAD: 4/28/02). The film also stars Toni Collette and Olivia Williams.
Nominated for a 2000 Academy Award for Best Picture, "The Sixth Sense" is a taut drama in which Bruce Willis ("Hart's War," "Unbreakable") plays a lauded child psychologist struggling with the memory of a former patient who once broke into the doctor's home, shot him and then committed suicide. The doctor takes on the disturbing case of a young patient (Haley Joel Osment, "Pay It Forward," "Artificial Intelligence: AI") who tells the doctor that he sees dead people and that they want him to do things for them. The boy's mother (Toni Collette, "About a Boy," "Changing Lanes"), is at her wit's end about her son's problems.

The 1999 film was written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan ("Signs," "Unbreakable," "Stuart Little"), who received Academy Award nominations for Best Director and Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen for his work on this film. The film was produced by Hollywood Pictures, Spyglass Entertainment and The Kennedy/Marshall Company.
