Samantha: An American Girl Holiday
"Samantha: An American Girl Holiday" - (TV-G)
Sunday , December 18 2005 (R)
5:30 - 7:30 PM ET

A FILM BASED ON THE BELOVED AMERICAN GIRL COLLECTION OF DOLLS - This heartwarming family drama brings to life the story of 9-year-old Samantha Parkington (AnnaSophia Robb, star of the upcoming feature films "Because of Winn-Dixie" and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"), an orphan girl being raised by her wealthy grandmother (Mia Farrow, "Rosemary's Baby," "Hannah and Her Sisters") in Mount Bedford, New York in 1904. When a poor family comes to work as servants for the family next door, Samantha is delighted to find that one of the girls, Nellie O'Malley (Kelsey Lewis, "Curb Your Enthusiasm"), is her age. Unconcerned with the social code of the day, Samantha quickly forms a close friendship with Nellie and her two little sisters. When the death of Nellie's father leads to the three O'Malley girls being sent to an orphanage, Samantha refuses to give up her friend and plots the sisters' dramatic escape. Jordan Bridges (Uncle Gard Edwards) and Rebecca Mader (Aunt Cornelia Edwards) also star. Ellen Brothers, Nancy Bennett, Rachael Horovitz, Lisa Gillan, Deborah Schindler, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Julia Roberts serve as executive producers. The movie was directed by Nadia Tass and written by Marsha Norman.
