VIVIAN AND JACK TRY IN VAIN TO GET A FAIR SHARE OF MEDIA AND FBI ATTENTION FOR AN AFRICAN-AMERICAN TEEN-AGED BOY WHO GOES MISSING THE SAME NIGHT AS A WHITE TEEN-AGED GIRL, ON A REBROADCAST OF "WITHOUT A TRACE," THURSDAY, AUG. 17

Lynn Whitfield Returns as Jack Malone's Superior

Viola Davis, Marin Mazzie And George Newbern Guest Star

"White Balance" -- When a white teen-aged girl and an African-American teen-aged boy coincidentally vanish on the same night, Jack attempts to counteract Vivian's prediction that the media and FBI will focus on the white girl's case, on a rebroadcast of WITHOUT A TRACE, Thursday, Aug. 17 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Jeff Thomas directed the episode written by Greg Walker, one of the series' executive producers. (Originally broadcast 5/11/06)

Lynn Whitfield returns as Jack's superior, ASAC (Assistant Special Agent in Charge) Paula Van Doran. Viola Davis and Marin Mazzie guest star, respectively, as the missing boy and girl's mothers. George Newbern guest stars as a reporter.

Despite Jack's attempts to generate press on both cases, Emily Grant's disappearance garners all of the media attention and, as a result, gets a steady stream of leads. As Vivian anticipates, Van Doran (Whitfield) orders Jack to allocate more resources to follow up on the leads on Emily's case, which means diverting FBI attention away from the Darnell Williams investigation. Well aware of the turn of events, Darnell's mother, Audrey (Davis), pointedly asks Jack who is running the investigations: the FBI or the media?
