When the whole gang decides to attend the awards banquet and support Robin's local news nomination, Ted finds himself dateless. However, in an effort to end Ted's dry spell, Barney comes to the rescue and secures a "date" for Ted with a hot call girl. After seeing Robin with her date, Sandy, Ted decides to make Robin jealous by bringing his date back to a hotel room where he discovers that Mary isn't the sure thing Barney said she was.
