Washington, DC, the year 2054 A trial program known as "Precrime" has been created to eradicate murder altogether. Chief John Anderton (Tom Cruise), a devoted Precrime enforcer, employed the system to help cope with the abduction of his son six years earlier. And all seems well -- until the Precogs predict that John Anderton himself will murder a man he's never met sometime within the next 36 hours. To prove his innocence, Anderton has to become a fugitive from the very system and people he formerly relied on and to retrieve a so-called "minority report," a dissenting opinion from one of the Precogs.
