Julia Roberts ("Ocean's Twelve," "Closer") and Richard Gere ("Chicago," "Unfaithful") star in an unlikely tale of romance and renewal, in "Pretty Woman," airing SATURDAY, JANUARY 26 (8:00-
11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. (Rebroadcast. OAD 11/1/92)
Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts), who makes her living as a prostitute on Hollywood Boulevard, runs into what she thinks could be the man of her dreams, though at first she doesn't recognize him as such. A wealthy but ruthless businessman, Edward Lewis (Richard Gere) is a takeover shark who doesn't realize he's venturing out of familiar waters when he proposes that Vivian spend not just the night, but the whole week with him, so that he doesn't have to make the social circuit solo. Slowly the two draw things from each other -- and from within themselves -- that make them hope, against their own skeptical natures, that maybe there are fairy tale endings in life after all.
Starring in "Pretty Woman" are Richard Gere as Edward Lewis, Julia Roberts as Vivian Ward, Ralph Bellamy as James Morse, Jason Alexander (TV's "Malcolm in the Middle," "Monk") as Philip Stuckey, Laura San Giacomo (TV's "Just Shoot Me," "The Stand") as Kit, Alex-Hyde White (TV's "Without a Trace") as David Morse, Amy Yasbeck ("The Mask") as Elizabeth Stuckey, Elinor Donahue (TV's "Cold Case," "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement") as Bridget and Hector Elizondo ("The Celestine Prophecy") as Barney Thompson.
The film, released in 1990, was written by J.F. Lawton and directed by Garry Marshall.
