(Rebroadcast. OAD 8/11/02)

This high-flying family adventure/fantasy/musical was created by the teams that produced other classic Disney animated features such as "Sleeping Beauty," "Lady and the Tramp," Cinderella," "Pinocchio," Alice in Wonderland," "One Hundred and One Dalmatians" and "Winnie the Pooh."

"Peter Pan" tells the story of the little boy who won't grow up. Late one night, Peter and his little fairy companion, Tinkerbell, visit the London nursery of Wendy, John and Michael Darling. They all embark on a magical flight to Never Never Land, an enchanted island where children never grow up. The island is also home to the Lost Boys, Tiger Lily and her Indian tribe and the treacherous Captain Hook. The Captain's desire to defeat Peter is only exceeded by his desire to avoid the crocodile that ate his hand. The hand proved so tasty that the crocodile is in constant pursuit of the rest of the Captain.

The film's voice cast includes Bobby Driscoll as Peter Pan, Kathryn Beaumont as Wendy Darling, Paul Collins as John Darling, Tommy Luske as Michael Darling, Bill Thompson as Mr. Smee/Other Pirates, Hans Conried as Capt. J.S. Hook/Mr. George Darling, Heather Angel as Mrs. Mary Darling, Candy Candido as Indian Chief, Tom Conway as Narrator, Roland Dupree as extra voice and Don Barclay as extra voices.

The 1953 animated film was directed by Clyde Geronimi ("Lady and the Tramp," "One Hundred and One Dalmatians"), Wilfred Jackson ("Cinderella," "Lady and the Tramp") and Hamilton Luske ("Alice in Wonderland," "One Hundred and One Dalmatians"). The writing credits include Milt Banta ("Sleeping Beauty"), J.M. Barrie, William Cottrell ("Pinocchio"), Winston Hibler ("Sleeping Beauty"), Bill Peet ("Dumbo"), Erdman Penner ("Fantasia" segment), Joe Rinaldi ("Babes in Toyland"), Ted Sears ("Sleeping Beauty") and Ralph Wright ("Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too!"). The film was produced by Walt Disney Pictures.
