Live Men's Gymnastics Team Gold Medal Final Women's Beach Volleyball also in Primetime

BEIJING � August 10, 2008 � NBC's primetime coverage of the Beijing Olympics begins Monday at 8 p.m. ET/PT with live swimming gold medals finals: the men's 200m freestyle and 100m backstroke and women's 100m backstroke and breaststroke. Michael Phelps will swim for what could be his ninth career gold medal of the Games, tying the all-time record, which is currently held by four athletes including USA's Carl Lewis and Mark Spitz. Five-time Olympic medalist Natalie Coughlin will compete on the women's side in her signature event, the 100m backstroke. In men's gymnastics, Team USA will compete live in the Men's Team Gold Medal Final after an impressive first place finish at the men's team final qualification yesterday. Also, Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh take on Cuba (Grasset/Peraza) live following their opening round victory in Beijing, their 102nd consecutive match win.

NBC DAYTIME: Live in daytime, the No.1 Men's Beach Volleyball team in the world Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser (USA) look to come back from a disappointing opening loss to Latvia as they take on Switzerland (Heyer/Heuscher). Swimming preliminaries continue and the USA Women's Water Polo team meets China.

NBC LATENIGHT: In latenight, following a day of tragedy for USA Men's Volleyball when Head Coach Hugh McCutcheon's father-in-law was murdered in Beijing, Team USA bounced back with an incredible win against Venezuela. Tonight, they take on Italy. Also, in latenight is the women's 200m freestyle swimming semifinal.

CABLE: Because of Beijing rain delays today, Monday is stocked with tennis stars beginning live on MSNBC, 2008 Wimbledon Champion Venus Williams (USA) takes on Timea Bacsinszky (SUI) and in men's tennis the 12-time Grand Slam Champion Roger Federer (SUI) looks to defeat Dmitry Tursunov (RUS). Also, 2008 Australian Open Champion Novak Djokovic (SRB) takes on USA's Robby Ginepri. On USA, 2008 Wimbledon and French Open Champion Rafael Nadal (ESP) takes on Potito Starace (ITA). NBC PRIMETIME HIGHLIGHTS:

�Another busy day for Michael Phelps, and it's all LIVE. First, he'll swim for what could be his third gold medal of the Games in an event he dominates, the 200m freestyle. Less than an hour later, the semifinal in another Phelps-dominated event, the 200m butterfly. In between, Olympic and world champion Natalie Coughlin is favored to win Olympic gold in her signature event, the 100m backstroke. Also, USA's Aaron Peirsol, who lowered his own world record at the Olympic Trials, is favored for gold in the 100m backstroke.

�All of the drama of the men's gymnastics team final is captured LIVE as the USA Men's Gymnastics Team tries to win its second consecutive Olympic medal. Team USA earned the silver medal in Athens. The atmosphere will be electric as China has won the last two team titles at the world championships and is favored to win gold.

�Beach Volleyball's Olympic "Golden Girls" Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh, who won gold in Athens and are three-time reigning world champions, hope to continue their gold medal defense.

�After winning no diving medals in Athens, Team USA has a chance to reverse the trend. The Indianapolis-based duo of David Boudia and Thomas Finchum give the USA a good chance at a medal in the men's platform synchronized diving final.

NBC DAYTIME HIGHLIGHTS:

�Michael Phelps leads a deeply talented USA Swimming corps in qualifying heats from the Water Cube. Plus, a LIVE beach volleyball and women's waterpolo with USA vs. China.
