Plus: Is South Florida Facing a Serial Killer Targeting an Upscale Mall?
Where is toddler Caylee Anthony, the Florida girl whose disappearance this summer quickly became a major story across the nation? In an exclusive report, "20/20" will air never-before-seen home videos and photographs offering new insights into her young life with her mother, Casey, who remains at the center of the investigation. Elizabeth Vargas' report also includes interviews with Caylee's grandparents and with Casey's brother and a former boyfriend, as well a detailed account of events from the time Caylee disappeared. The report airs on "20/20," FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 5 (10:00-11:00 pm, ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Plus: Three unusual cases in less than a year have some people wondering if South Florida is facing a serial killer. Thousands of people swarm the vast and luxurious Town Center Mall every day. But one man who went to the Boca Raton, Florida shopping center last August, and possibly two other times, was shopping only for a victim. On three separate occasions three women two with a young child in tow were abducted after leaving the mall and getting into their black SUVs. Two of them were found dead; in one case the small child was killed too.
The one survivor somehow managed to escape with her two-year-old son. She lives in fear that the man will track her down, but feels that, if she does not tell her story, someone else could die.
"I remember seeing people in cars passing me and just wondering how no one knows, you know, that this is happening to us," she said. "No one knows that I'm going to die today." She tells ABC News Correspondent Jay Schadler why she thinks she survived the horrific ordeal and why she believes the police didn't do enough to warn others after her attack in August. Schadler also interviews police officers to get inside the investigation. What is being done to find the suspect, and is there a possible breakthrough?
"20/20" is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and John Stossel. David Sloan is the executive producer.
