Liz and her 200-person staff at the Portland Hotel Society are on the frontlines of lending dignity and stability to the lives of people living in Vancouver�s downtown eastside, a neighborhood overwhelmed with homelessness, addiction and disease. The Portland Hotel Society�s unique blend of services includes housing, food, drop-in resource centers, needle exchange, a bank, an art gallery and North America�s only safe injection site. Sol and Eva get a firsthand look at some of the projects, come face to face with the pain of addiction, and connect with a community of people often ignored by society (#103).
