RICKY'S ABUSIVE FATHER SHOWS UP UNEXPECTEDLY, AND AMY SERIOUSLY CONSIDERS GIVING THE BABY UP FOR ADOPTION, ON "THE SECRET LIFE OF THE AMERICAN TEENAGER," MONDAY, JANUARY 19, 2009 ON ABC FAMILY

Burbank, CA (January 7, 2008) � Ricky's abusive father shows up unexpectedly and Amy seriously considers giving the baby up for adoption on, "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," Monday, January 19 (8:00 � 9:00 PM ET/PT).

In "The Father and the Son," Ricky's sexually abusive father, Bob, returns to town in search of his son, but he's up to no good when he first pays a visit to Amy and her family and later threatens Ricky with the possibility of selling the baby. Amy reveals to her parents that Ricky has been sexually abused by his father and Anne suggests that they should seriously consider what's best for the baby � adoption. For the first time Amy seriously considers giving her baby up for adoption and discusses it with Ben and Ricky, who both want her to keep the baby, but for very different reasons. Anne seeks out Rev. Stone's advice to see if he knows any nice families who are looking to adopt.

The series cast includes Shailene Woodley, Molly Ringwald, Mark Derwin, India Eisley, Ken Baumann, Daren Kagasoff, Francia Raisa, Megan Park, Greg Finley and Jorge�Luis Pallo. John Schneider, Josie Bissett, Ernie Hudson and Steve Schirripa also guest star as well as Tom Virtue as Rev. Stone, Bryan Callen as Bob and Phillip Anthony-Rodriguez as Ruben. Created and executive-produced by Brenda Hampton ("7th Heaven"), the series is produced by Prodco, Inc. in association with Brendavision.

The first eleven episodes of the summer 2008 run of "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" were released on DVD on December 30, 2008 by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.
