A DAUGHTER'S MIRACULOUS STORY OF SURVIVAL AFTER HER OWN FATHER MURDERS THEIR FAMILY, ON ABC NEWS' "20/20," FRIDAY, MARCH 4

Carmina Salcido Beat the Odds to Become an "American Idol" Contestant

Plus: Pet Crocodiles?

One man's murderous rampage 20 years ago destroyed his own family and devastated a Northern California wine country community. The only survivor - the man's own daughter, Carmina Salcido - told her story for the first time to ABC News Correspondent Jay Schadler just over a year ago. Now Schadler updates what has happened since, including making it to the second round of "American Idol," an epic triumph for Carmina, who survived having her throat slashed from ear to ear. Doctors initially were not sure if she would ever speak again - let alone sing. The report airs on "20/20" FRIDAY, MARCH 4 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Carmina Salcido was just three when her father, Ramon, a hard working, hard drinking vineyard employee, went on a killing spree, taking the lives of seven people, including her mother, two sisters, grandmother and two young aunts, plus a vineyard supervisor. According to the doctors who saved her life, Carmina's survival was nothing short of a miracle. "20/20" brings Carmina together with Mike Brown, now retired, who was the supervising detective on the case, as well as a crime reporter who covered the murders, to retrace what happened that fateful day. Carmina also reveals the dark turn her new life took after she lost her mom, and what happened when she met her father in prison for the first time since the murders. The original report aired October 2009.

Plus: This week on the new feature "The Final Act," "20/20" takes viewers on a wild ride to meet the Croc Lady of Australia, a nurse who lives with three crocodiles at her home. Then, across the world, is the surprising story of a 10-year-old Gator Girl in the unlikely location of the Colorado Rocky Mountains who, as she learns from her gator wrestling dad, wrestles alligators at her family's fish farm that has nearly 350 gators.

"20/20" is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and Chris Cuomo. David Sloan is executive producer.
