The Top Six finalists are in for a big surprise when the eight previously eliminated contestants return to the MASTERCHEF kitchen to compete for a chance to earn a spot back in the competition. The eager hopefuls will each select one ingredient to make up a mystery box, and they will be required to use all of the items to create a stunning dish that will prove that they deserve a second chance. After the contestants are whittled down, only two amateur cooks will compete head to head for a chance to win back their aprons and continue on the journey to become the next MASTERCHEF in the all-new "Top 6 Compete, Part 1" episode of MASTERCHEF airing Monday, July 23 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. DESCRIPTION:
(from FOX's press release, May 2013) Award-winning chef Gordon Ramsay, restaurateur Joe Bastianich and acclaimed chef Graham Elliot return for Season Four of the culinary smash hit MASTERCHEF with a two-hour season premiere event on Wednesday,May 22 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). The three celebrated food experts will put the latest group of contestants through a series of exciting elimination rounds and turn one home cook into a culinary master. The hit unscripted series once again will conduct a nationwide search for the best home cooks in America. Those who are chosen then will be flown to Los Angeles to present their signature dishes to the judges in hopes of earning a coveted MASTERCHEF apron. Once the auditions are over, the top home cooks will be put through their paces in a series of challenges designed to test their palates, food knowledge, passion and culinary skills. In the first field challenge, the home cooks will work in teams to prepare a healthyand balanced meal for more than 300 elementary school children. Later, the hopefuls will prepare a hearty meal for American heroes, travel to Las Vegas for the first time in MASTERCHEF history, cook for the cast and crew of GLEE, prepare beach-friendly fish tacos for 101 surfers, take command of a renowned fine dining restaurant and create a summer party menu for charity volunteers. As the competition intensifies, the pressure will mount as the home cooks compete for the coveted title of MASTERCHEF, a cookbook deal and the $250,000 grand prize. Season Three winner Christine Ha overcame blindness to win the competition and continues to be an inspiration to millions. Her cookbook, "Recipes from My Home Kitchen: Asian and American Comfort Food," will be released this month. America's first MASTERCHEFwinner, Whitney Miller, is the author of "Modern Hospitality: Simple Recipes with Southern Charm." Her recipes have been featured in various national publications such as People and Cooking Light. Season Two winner Jennifer Behmhas founded a successful catering company based in her home state of Delawareand is currently working on her first cookbook. MASTERCHEF is produced by Shine America and One Potato Two Potato, and is based on a format created by Franc Roddam and Shine. Shine International handles distribution for the MASTERCHEF format. Elisabeth Murdoch, EdenGaha, Paul Franklin, Robin Ashbrook, GordonRamsay, Adeline Ramage Rooney, Patricia Llewellyn and Ben Adler serve as executive producers. |
