A SELF-PROCLAIMED "MODERN REDNECK" TRADES LIVES WITH A PAGEANT MOM, ON ABC'S "WIFE SWAP"

"Cochran/Curry" - Self-proclaimed "modern redneck" Heidi Cochran trades lives with pageant mom Marianne Curry on "Wife Swap," THURSDAY, APRIL 4 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on ABC.

In "Wife Swap," two mothers of families, each with opposing values, trade households, lifestyles and children (but not bedrooms) in a two week-long challenge: In the first part of the exchange, each mom moves into the other's home and agrees to follow a manual of "household rules" written by the departing mother, including how to parent, manage their social life, do house work, unwind and more. Everything changes in the second week when "new mommy" takes charge, introduces her own set of rules and runs the "nest" her way. At the end of the second week, the two couples meet for the first time in a raw and highly-charged exchange of views, making frank assessments of one another and discussing the experience.

Heidi Cochran lives in Vancouver, Washington with her husband, Scott, and two children, Josiah (10) and Savannah (4). Heidi spends the majority of her days decked out in camouflage, duck hunting with her husband. She's not at all concerned with appearances and spends more time singing to her chickens than cleaning her home -- which includes a "bone yard" in the backyard and the ever-present "laundry volcano" in the living room.

Marianne Curry, better known as Miss Marion Popcorn Festival 2011, lives in Columbus, Ohio with her doting husband, Craig, and their three children, Marin (7), Leo (6) and Layne (3). Marianne is a pageant mom who regularly practices pageant poses with her kids and dreams of competing on a national level. She and her husband shuttle their kids around to all kinds of after-school activities, including dance, soccer and gymnastics. Marianne believes appearances are very important, and won't even allow her sons to get haircuts because she thinks it makes them look unique.

Opening Marianne's household manual, Heidi reads that the Curry kids have impeccable manners, but that idea goes right out the window once she meets the kids and the boys begin roughhousing, yelling and talking back to their father. Heidi soon realizes that Craig needs to take control and establish some discipline. She also learns that the Curry kids don't actually like participating in pageants and that they're often overwhelmed by their many after-school activities.

Meanwhile in Washington, Marianne discovers that her new family only eats freshly hunted meat, and she is intimidated by their whole lifestyle when Scott presents her with dead ducks. She also learns that Scott doesn't normally help Heidi with any of the domestic responsibilities around the house, so tensions mount between him and Marianne when he criticizes her dishwashing skills.

"Wife Swap" is produced by Zodiak USA. Mike Gamson and Bruce Toms serve as executive producers. It is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HD format, with 5.1-channel sound. A TV parental guideline will be assigned closer to airdate.
