A BARBARA WALTERS EXCLUSIVE -- "STOLEN AT BIRTH: A 20/20 INVESTIGATION"

ABC News' Barbara Walters and Brian Ross Investigate the Mystery of Paul Fronczak, the Chicago Baby Stolen Almost 50 Years Ago, Airing on "20/20," Friday, November 1 on ABC

Imagine being an almost 50-year-old married father and successful businessman, but not knowing your birth date, your real name, or even where you are from. That is the case for Paul Fronczak. It all began with a terrifying kidnapping in 1964 - a baby boy named Paul Fronczak was stolen right from his mother's arms in a Chicago hospital. The baby was later found abandoned in New Jersey and reunited with his family. Paul grew up believing he was that stolen baby. Yet, this intriguing case took a shocking turn, making headlines last year when DNA tests showed that Paul is not actually his parents' biological child.

So who is Paul Fronczak? And what ever happened to the stolen baby the real Paul Fronczak? "20/20" and the ABC News Investigative Team, led by Barbara Walters and Chief Investigative Correspondent Brian Ross, have been following Paul's compelling story for months. ABC cameras follow his journey as he searches to uncover his true biological identity. Anchored by Barbara Walters, with reporting from Brian Ross, "Stolen at Birth: A 20/20 Investigation" airs on "20/20," FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1 (10:00 - 11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

With the help of new age progression photos and several tips sent into ABC News and directly to Paul Fronczak, "20/20" tracks down several grown men who believe they could be the long lost, kidnapped baby. It is a journey that takes "20/20" from a firehouse in Chicago, to an oil field in Colorado, to a family home in Fresno, California. Plus, with the help of ancestry.com, Paul Fronczak learns for the first time what his genetic heritage is, and he even discovers that he has at least one living blood relative looking to meet him.

The investigation also uncovers many surprising details and questions whether the FBI, police, and Paul's parents knew all along that Paul was not the stolen baby. The hour will also feature an interview with the nurse who was the last to see baby Paul before he was kidnapped, as well as archival film and pictures. The case was recently reopened by the FBI, due in large part to ABC News' investigative work.
