"THE MOOCHERS?" ON "20/20"

Airing TONIGHT, October 24 on ABC

From people accused of trying to turn a little injury into a big payday, to a woman posing as a real estate agent charged with illegally procuring vacant homes, to doctors defaulting on their medical school loans - costing taxpayers a lot of money, to wedding crashers, "20/20" is on the search for those who take advantage other others for a financial or personal gain. "The Moochers?" airs on "20/20" on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

· Workers Comp: "20/20" uncovers scores of people accused of faking injuries to claim disability and workers compensation benefits - costing taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars. From the 22 year-old beauty pageant contestant seen strutting down the stage in high heels (even while she is collecting disability for a fractured toe) to the New York Port Authority Police Officer who had to turn in his badge after being caught on YouTube fronting a heavy metal band, these accused con artists are all caught in the act on tape, trying to cash in on false claims. Cecilia Vega rides shotgun with two private eyes hired to crack down on the suspects.

· Bogus Broker: Shannon Lee is accused of illegally claiming ownership of vacant homes -- selling some, renting others, and letting her alleged partner in crime live in another (Shannon was also living in one). But police say it all came crashing down when she snatched the home of a police department employee. Gio Benitez is there as the law came knocking.

· Defaulting Doctors: So many of us have student loan burdens, but doctors, who make an average of $187k a year? What happens when certain doctors decide that writing those monthly repayment checks is a painful operation they'd rather not perform? As Matt Gutman reports, it leaves the taxpayer holding the bag.

· Wedding Crashers: If you are bold enough, you can have all the food and drink you can handle. Paula Faris with the risks some people are willing to take for a thrill and a meal.

"20/20" is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and David Muir. David Sloan is senior executive producer.
