ON FRIDAY'S ABC NEWS' 20/20 (10/21)

After Almost Getting Away With Murder, Christopher Waide Speaks Exclusively from Prison to "20/20"

Report Includes Never-Before-Seen Police Interrogation Videos, Surveillance Videos and Crime Scene Photos

'20/20's' 'How to Get Away with Murder' airs Friday, October 21 on ABC

It's the real-life story that could have served as the script for an episode of the Shonda Rhimes hit show. Christopher Waide murdered 19-year-old Lea Porter in 2014, cleaned his apartment with bleach, hid Lea's body and disposed of all DNA evidence. Christopher's former criminology professor Robert Wells believes the skills he learned in his criminology class allowed Christopher to cover up his crime. In a shocking turn of events he confessed to Lea's brother, Maxx Porter. After almost getting away with murder, convicted killer Christopher Waide speaks exclusively to "20/20" from prison. Senior National Correspondent Jim Avila's report also features never-before-seen seen police interrogation videos, surveillance videos and crime scene photos, and includes interviews with Maxx; Robert; Rene Jackson, Lea's mother; Matt Calhoon and Mike Lynch, Westminster Police Detectives; and more. "20/20's" How to Get Away with Murder" airs Friday, October 21 (10:01-11:00p.m., ET) on ABC.

Lea had been living with her 38-year-old boyfriend, Jesse Mine, who her friends blamed for getting Lea addicted to heroin. When Jesse decided to move back east to get clean, Lea was left heartbroken and homeless. She reached out on social media for help and her high school classmate Christopher opened his home. For days no one heard from Lea and her family reported her as a missing person. During the investigation into Lea's disappearance, police zeroed in on Christopher, putting him under 24-hour surveillance. Maxx also suspected Christopher and decided to take the investigation into his own hands. After befriending Christopher, he got him to confess in a recorded conversation and turn himself in to police. Christopher was arrested, plead guilty and was sentenced to 48 years in prison. Lea's body has not been found yet, but the Porter family have not given up and continue to search for her.

"20/20" is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and David Muir. David Sloan is senior executive producer.
