FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - The extended season seven finale of the #1 show in all of television among adults 18-49, AMC's "The Walking Dead," airs Sunday, April 2nd at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. On "The First Day of the Rest of Your Life," the stakes keep mounting higher and higher as different stories from the season clash while the group enacts an intricate plan.

Leading into the season seven finale, AMC will air a back-to-back marathon of season seven beginning Friday, April 1st at 6:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics, "The Walking Dead" reigns as television's most watched drama for Adults 18-49 for five consecutive years. "The Walking Dead" tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse, and follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home. The series is executive produced by showrunner Scott M. Gimple, Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert, Greg Nicotero and Tom Luse.

Season two of AMC's martial arts drama, "Into the Badlands," continues on Sunday, April 2nd at 10:25 p.m. ET/PT. The season two premiere was cable's #1 returning show for 2017 for adults 25-54, delivering 4.5 million total viewers, 2.7 million adults 25-54 and 2.4 million adults 18-49 in Nielsen live+3 ratings. On the third episode, "Red Sun, Silver Moon," Sunny and Bajie encounter a dangerous foe who knows Sunny all too well. The Widow prepares for a deadly showdown, while MK learns a terrible secret.

Season two of the martial arts drama finds Sunny (Daniel Wu) and M.K. (Aramis Knight) separated and scattered to the wind, each imprisoned in unlikely places. While M.K. struggles to control his powers, Sunny is determined to fight his way back into the Badlands to find his family or die trying. On their journey, Clipper and Colt are assisted by new allies whose motivations may be anything but pure. Meanwhile, The Widow (Emily Beecham) continues to consolidate power against the other Barons, while a dark and mysterious threat prepares to exact revenge on them all. Alliances are struck, friendships betrayed, and by season's end, Sunny and M.K.'s lives will be forever altered.

"Into the Badlands" was created by showrunners/executive producers/writers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar and executive produced by Oscar(R)-nominated producers Stacey Sher and Michael Shamberg, director David Dobkin, fight director Stephen Fung and Daniel Wu. The series stars Wu (Tai Chi Zero) as Sunny; Marton Csokas (The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King) as Quinn; Aramis Knight (The Dark Knight Rises) as M.K.; Oliver Stark ("Luther") as Ryder; Emily Beecham (28 Weeks Later) as The Widow; Orla Brady ("Dr. Who," "Fringe") as Lydia; Sarah Bolger ("Once Upon a Time," "The Tudors") as Jade; Ally Ioannides ("Parenthood") as Tilda; Madeleine Mantock (Edge of Tomorrow) as Veil; Stephen Lang (Avatar, Don't Breathe) as Waldo and Nick Frost as Bajie (Shaun of the Dead).

Immediately following the episode, viewers can catch "The Walking Dead" live after-show, "Talking Dead," hosted by Chris Hardwick, featuring series stars Norman Reedus and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, joined by Executive Producer Scott M. Gimple and a surprise cast member at 11:25 p.m. ET/PT.

DESCRIPTION:
(from AMC's press release, January 2018) AMC today made a number of announcements related to "The Walking Dead," the highest-rated cable series in history and the #1 show on television for the last six seasons and counting. The series is being renewed for a ninth season, to premiere in late 2018; current showrunner Scott M. Gimple is being elevated to Chief Content Officer, overseeing the entire "Dead" television universe, including "The Walking Dead," "Fear the Walking Dead," and potential brand extensions on a variety of platforms; and Angela Kang, who has been a writer on the show since 2011 and co-executive producer since 2013, is being promoted by Gimple to executive producer and showrunner of "The Walking Dead," starting with season nine. "This is an enormously important day for the entire 'The Walking Dead' television universe. We are proud to acknowledge Angela's significant contribution to the series and to set a clear path forward for a ninth season under her direction. Further, with gratitude and admiration, we also recognize Scott's broad impact on, and leadership of, the content that fuels our TWD universe. Together, we will dream bigger and more broadly than ever before," said Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios. "I know I speak for Angela, Scott and everyone at AMC when I say thanks most of all to the fans and the many talented people who have helped AMC play 'Dead.'" "'The Walking Dead' is a special show which started in an entirely different era of TV, and continues, in this new era, to confidently take chances to tell compelling stories that excite audiences and make them deeply connect with its characters, adapting Robert Kirkman's brilliant comic book," Gimple said. "As the show closes in on its tenth year, I'm honored to keep working with the talented, dedicated people behind and in front of the camera to make it all it can be, while expanding the world of 'The Walking Dead' with new narratives like 'Fear the Walking Dead' and a whole host of truly cool stories ahead. Angela is a big part of the heart and soul of 'The Walking Dead,' and I'm thrilled to help facilitate her vision of the show's next era." "I am beyond thrilled to be stepping into this new role with 'The Walking Dead.' Working on this series and having the opportunity to adapt Robert Kirkman's amazing comic has been a fangirl dream come true for me," said Kang. "I'm excited to continue working with Scott and the wonderfully supportive folks at AMC, and can't wait to share the next chapter of the story with our fans next fall."
