REAL-LIFE NCIS AGENTS TAKE VIEWERS INSIDE THEIR INVESTIGATION INTO THE BRUTAL ATTACK AND MURDER OF A MARINE SERGEANT AND HIS WIFE, IN "NCIS: THE CASES THEY CAN'T FORGET"

Wednesday, June 12, 9:00 PM, ET/PT

Jan Pawel Pietrzak and Quiana Jenkins-Pietrzak.

Naval Criminal Investigative Service agents take viewers inside the emotional investigation into the brutal attack, torture and murder of Marine Corps Sergeant Jan Pawel Pietrzak and his wife, Quiana Jenkins-Pietrzak, in NCIS: THE CASES THEY CAN'T FORGET: "Unbreakable" to be broadcast Wednesday, June 12 (9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Sgt. Pietrzak was known as a tough disciplinarian. It was also known around the base that he had gotten a $30,000 bonus months earlier and had told some people he had kept the money at their home, which was near Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton in California. Whoever attacked the couple also tried to burn their home down.

"This case involved torture. It involved greed," says NCIS agent Matthew Timmons. "It involved anger. It involved double lives."

Why would anyone kill the Pietrzaks, a beloved couple? Could the attacks and murder have been racially motivated? Was it just about money?

NCIS agents, who worked with the Riverside Sheriff's Department on the investigations, reveal the shrewd detective work that went into the case. Early clues, including different footprints at the crime scene, led investigators to believe they were looking for more than one suspect. The investigation took a turn when agents learned someone used Quiana Jenkins-Pietrzak's card at an ATM right outside the gate of Camp Pendleton, which helped lead them to unraveling the ties that bound the four suspects and the victims together.

The broadcast also features emotional interviews with Quiana Jenkins-Pietrzak parents and Jan Pietrzak's mother.

"Anytime a Marine or sailor is involved in a crime, especially if they're a victim, you know, NCIS has a vested interest to ensure that justice is done," Timmons says.

NCIS: THE CASES THEY CAN'T FORGET is in its third season and is hosted by Rocky Carroll. The series features a slate of the biggest cases handled by the real-life Naval Criminal Investigative Service. These are the kinds of challenging investigations that have inspired cases on CBS Entertainment's successful primetime series NCIS, broadcast television's #1 drama, NCIS: LOS ANGELES and NCIS: NEW ORLEANS. The previous name of the series was 48 HOURS: NCIS.
