AN ALL-NEW '20/20' FOLLOWS THE DOGGED INVESTIGATION BY A DETECTIVE WHO WILL STOP AT NOTHING TO SOLVE THE MURDERS OF TWO YOUNG WOMEN
ABC News Correspondent John QuiƱones Reports in 'Badass Detective,' Friday, Jan. 9, on ABC and Streams Next Day on Disney+ and Hulu
For decades, law enforcement officers in Sunnyvale, California, were haunted by the brutal murders of two young women: 18-year-old Estella Mena and 15-year-old Karen Stitt. Their bodies were discovered with multiple stab wounds. Their murders, which happened a few years apart, went unsolved for years until one local detective took on the cold cases. Detective Matt Hutchison grew up in the same neighborhood where the young girls' bodies were found. He began investigating their murders, and his department became early adopters of forensic genetic genealogy just as breakthrough technology started gaining widespread attention. Using grit, disguises and cutting-edge forensics, Detective Hutchison's relentless pursuit ultimately led him and his partner to the killers. Correspondent John QuiƱones reports in "Badass Detective," an all-new "20/20," FRIDAY, JAN. 9, (9:00-11:00 p.m. EST) on ABC and streams next day on Disney+ and Hulu.
