This month, Friday's No. 1 true crime newsmagazine, "20/20," shares stories of love turned lethal with two brand new episodes. From murder, mystery and love triangles to secrets and secret affairs, "20/20" promises a Valentine's Day and February filled with gripping true crime drama with all-new episodes. "20/20" airs FRIDAYS (9:00-11:00 p.m. EST) on ABC and streams the next day on Disney+ and Hulu.

FRIDAY, FEB. 13: "Footprints in the Snow"

Juju Chang, co-anchor of "Nightline," reports on the mysterious murder of a 40-year-old mother near a popular ski resort. Identified as Ashley Schwalm, the mother of two and wife of a local firefighter was found inside a charred SUV. While her death was initially believed to be an accident, a forensic investigation revealed a more sinister end to her life. Friends and family in her town of Ontario were shocked to learn that Ashley's husband, a man who dedicated his life and career to helping those around him, used those skills to orchestrate an elaborate murder scheme. He also attempted to cover his tracks by creating an alibi built on technical footprints from phone records, text messages and even his own home-surveillance footage. It wasn't until eagle-eyed detectives deconstructed his alibi that they were able to capture a killer.

FRIDAY, FEB. 20: "The Au Pair, the Affair and Murder"

It's a murder trial that has garnered national attention and is currently in the headlines. In 2023, a frantic 911 call made from an affluent Virginia neighborhood led police to a horrifying discovery: 37-year-old pediatric nurse and mother Christine Banfield was stabbed to death in her bedroom, and another man, Joseph Ryan, 39, was shot dead alongside her. The family's live-in au pair, 23-year-old Juliana Peres Magalhães, told investigators that she returned home after forgetting the lunch she'd packed for the Banfields' young daughter and encountered a violent intruder attacking Christine, but investigators quickly began to question the story and uncovered evidence of a secret affair between Christine's husband, Brendan Banfield, and Juliana. Brendan stood trial for his wife's murder, and just last week, a jury rendered a verdict sealing his future and fate.
