DESCRIPTION:
(from Lifetime's press release, September 2026) Single mom Halle (Kenjah) confronts and kills the troubled 25-year-old son of a wealthy businessman as he is trying to sexually assault her 14-year-old daughter, Emma. Instead of being heralded as a hero, Halle is arrested by the corrupt local sheriff and charged with second degree murder, at the urging of the dead boy's well-connected father. When she is let out on bond, Halle is determined to stand up to the small town's power structure, so she decides to run against the sheriff in a local election while she is awaiting her day in court. Gaining sympathy from the public, she looks like she is going to win the election and sway the jury, but she soon finds out that corruption runs deep in a small Georgia town, and there are people who are determined to stop her from winning, even if it means they have to kill her.
