The ABC Television Network received 51 nominations for the 57th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. "Desperate Housewives" earned 15 nominations - tying for the most nominations received for a series -- including Outstanding Comedy Series and Lead Actress in a Comedy Series nods for Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman and Marcia Cross. "Lost" earned 12 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama series nods for Naveen Andrews and Terry O'Quinn. Jennifer Garner was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for "Alias," James Spader and William Shatner received nods for Outstanding Lead Actor and Supporting Actor, respectively, in a Drama Series for "Boston Legal," and Sandra Oh was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for "Grey's Anatomy."
Other nominations for "Desperate Housewives" include two nods for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for Kathryn Joosten as Mrs. McClusky and Lupe Ontiveros as Juanita Solis, Outstanding Art Direction for a Single-Camera Series, Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Costumes for a Series, Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, two nods for Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Main Title Design, Outstanding Main Title Theme Music and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.
Other nominations for "Lost" include Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for co-creator/executive producer J.J. Abrams, Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series, Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Drama Series, Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Dramatic Underscore), Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series, Outstanding Single-Camera Sound Mixing for a Series, Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series and two nods for Outstanding writing for a Drama Series.
Among "Alias'" other nominations are Outstanding Costumes for a Series, Outstanding Hairstyling for a Series and Outstanding Stunt Coordination.
"Grey's Anatomy" also received nominations for Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series and Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series.
"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" received two nominations, including Outstanding Reality Program and Outstanding Directing for Nonfiction Programming.
Among ABC's other series, "George Lopez" was nominated for Outstanding Art Direction for a Multi-Camera Series, and "Hope & Faith" received a nod for Outstanding Cinematography for a Multi-Camera Series.
In the movie category, ABC received four nominations: Halle Berry was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie for "Their Eyes Were Watching God." The film also received a nomination for Outstanding Hairstyling for a Miniseries, Movie or Special. "Mitch Albom's The Five People You Meet in Heaven" was nominated for Outstanding Cinematography for a Miniseries or Movie, and "The Muppets' Wizard of Oz" received a nod for Outstanding Music and Lyrics.
And finally, "The 77th Annual Academy Awards" received seven nominations, including Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special, Outstanding Art Direction for a Variety, Music Program, or Special, Outstanding Directing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program, Outstanding Picture Editing for a Special (Single or Multi-Camera), Outstanding Lighting Direction (Electronic, Multi-Camera) for VMC Programming, Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety or Music Series or Special or Animation and Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special.
The 57th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be presented Sunday, September 18, in Los Angeles.
