Disney-ABC Television Group series received eight nominations -- including recognitions for Greys Anatomy, Boston Legal, Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty -- for the 13th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which were announced this morning.
Touchstone Television, which produces three of the nominated series, currently has the #1 (Grey's Anatomy), #2 (Desperate Housewives) and #3 (Lost)-rated primetime shows for the season in Adults 18-49, the first studio ever to have the top three primetime programs in the history of the Nielsen People Meter. First-time Comedy Ensemble nominee Ugly Betty is the #1-rated new comedy of the season in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49.
Two-time Screen Actors Guild nominee Greys Anatomy received two nominations, including Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series for Chandra Wilson, her first nomination for her portrayal of Dr. Miranda Bailey, the tough-as-nails doctor who both terrorizes and nurtures her interns.
This seasons critically acclaimed newcomer, Ugly Betty, received two nominations, including Best Ensemble in a Comedy Series as well as America Ferreras first nomination for her role as the reluctant beauty Betty Suarez.
Previous Screen Actors Guild comedy ensemble winner Desperate Housewives received two nominations, including a repeat nomination for last years winner Felicity Huffman, nominated in the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series category.
In addition to Boston Legals Drama Series nomination, James Spader is recognized with his second straight Actor nomination for his role as Alan Shore, the high priced eccentric litigator at Crane Poole & Schmidt.
The 2007 Screen Actors Guild Awards will be presented Sunday, January 28, 2007 in Los Angeles.
