BURBANK, Calif. � September 16, 2008 � NBC won its sixth consecutive primetime week in both adults 18-49 and total viewers, taking the week of September 8-14 with an average 2.6 rating, 7 share in adults 18-49 and 8.4 million viewers overall, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research. NBC also won the week in most key demographic measures, including adults 25-54, adults 18-34, men and women 18-49 and men and women 25-54.

NBC's current six-week primetime winning streak in adults 18-49 (August 4-September 8, 2008) marks the network's longest consecutive string of weekly wins in four years (since August 9-September 13, 2004). NBC's six-week streak in total viewers is the network's longest stay at the top by that measure in more than six years (since the weeks of April 29-June 10, 2002).

The "NBC Sunday Night Football" telecast of the Pittsburgh Steelers at the Cleveland Browns was the #1 telecast of the week in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key measures.

Excluding football post-game and pre-game telecasts, NBC had three of the top five and five of the top 10 programs of the week in total viewers, with "Sunday Night Football" (#1, 17.8 million), Wednesday's "America's Got Talent" (#4, 11.7 million), Tuesday's "America's Got Talent" (#5, 11.6 million), Thursday's "America's Got Talent" (#6, 9.8 million) and "Deal or No Deal" (#7, 9.7 million). The three editions of "Talent" teamed with "Deal or No Deal" to claim the week's top four rankings in total viewers for entertainment programs. (Note: excluded from the weekly programs rankings are all NFL football pre-game and post-game telecasts; if those were included, NBC would have seven of the top 10 programs in total viewers)

Primetime averages for the week of September 8-14 in adults 18-49 were NBC (2.6/7), Fox (2.3/6), ABC and CBS (2.1/6), Univision (1.6/5), CW (1.2/3) and Telemundo (0.5/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were NBC (8.4 million), CBS (7.4 million), ABC (6.3 million), Fox (6.2 million), Univision (4.0 million), CW (2.7 million) and Telemundo (1.2 million).

Through 51 weeks of the 2007-08 season, and with one full week remaining to be measured, Fox leads in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49 while NBC is poised to finish the full broadcast season as #2. Season-to-date averages in adults 18-49 for the period September 24, 2007 through September 14, 2008 are Fox (3.6/10), NBC (2.9/8), ABC and CBS (2.6/7), Univision (1.5/4), CW (0.9/3) and Telemundo (0.4/1). NBC is up 7 percent versus its rating of one year ago while ABC is down 10 percent, CBS is down 16 percent and Fox is up 3 percent.

NBC highlights for the week of September 8-14:

* NBC won its seventh consecutive Sunday night in decisive fashion, paced by the "NBC Sunday Night Football" telecast of the Pittsburgh Steelers at the Cleveland Browns. NBC's Sunday primetime margin of victory was 91 percent in 18-49 rating and 43 percent in total viewers over the #2 network.

* Sunday's Steelers-Browns game was up 11 percent in 18-49 rating and 16 percent or more than 2.5 million persons in total viewers versus the comparable "NBC Sunday Night Football" game last year.

* On Tuesday, "America's Got Talent" delivered its biggest overall audience in five weeks, despite increased competition from such programming as the series premiere of Fox's "Fringe," week two of CW's "90210" and first-run episodes of CBS's "Big Brother" and ABC's "Wipeout."

* With an average 11.6 million viewers, "America's Got Talent" was the #1 show on television Tuesday by that measure and the only program on Tuesday to attract more than 10 million viewers. "Talent" topped its closest competitor by 44 percent or more than 3.5 million persons in total viewers.

* On Wednesday, "America's Got Talent" scored the highest 18-49 rating and biggest viewership for a Wednesday telecast of the current cycle, and, excluding Olympics, delivered NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the time period since January 23 and highest total viewership since January 2. Week-to-week, the Wednesday edition of "Talent" was up 7 percent in adults 18-49 and 14 percent in total viewers.

* "America's Got Talent" was the #1 show on any network Wednesday night in total viewers, marking the second consecutive night that "Talent" topped all competition � including fall series premieres � in total viewers. "Talent" ranked #1 in its two-hour time period in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures.

* NBC was #1 on Wednesday night in adults 18-49 (tied) and total viewers.

* On Thursday, a special "America's Got Talent" results show attracted the largest overall viewership of any show on any network Thursday night, marking the third consecutive night that "Talent" was the most-watched program on television.

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

Additional NBC highlights for the week of September 8-14

On Monday, Sept. 8 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Deal or No Deal" (2.2 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49, 9.7 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49, just one share out of the time-period lead, and #1 in total viewers, women 18-49 and women 25-54, topping the season premiere of Fox's "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" and CW's first-run "Gossip Girl," among other programs in those measures. From its first to its second half-hour, "Deal" grew by 26 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.4/6 from a 1.9/5) and by 21 percent or more than 1.8 million persons in total viewers (to 10.6 million from 8.7 million).

Monday from 9-10 p.m. ET, "America's Toughest Jobs" (2.2/5 in 18-49, 6.5 million viewers overall) retained 100 percent of the 18-49 rating of its lead-in from the previous hour for the first time. "Toughest Jobs" finished within 1 share of the time-period lead in adults 18-49. "Jobs" was up 22 percent in 18-49 rating versus NBC's average in this slot last summer (2.2 vs. 1.8) and gained 29 percent in 18-49 rating versus NBC's pre-Olympics summer average this year in the time period (2.2 vs. 1.7).

Monday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.8/5 in 18-49, 6.3 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49, 25-54, total viewers and other key measures.

On Tuesday, Sept. 9 from 8-10 p.m. ET, "America's Got Talent" (2.6/7 in 18-49, 11.6 million viewers overall) attracted its biggest overall audience in five weeks (since August 5), despite increased competition from such programming as the series premiere of Fox's "Fringe" and first-run episodes of CW's "90210," CBS's "Big Brother" and ABC's "Wipeout."

With an average 11.6 million viewers, "Talent" was the #1 show on television Tuesday by that measure and the only program on Tuesday to attract more than 10 million viewers. From 8-10 p.m. ET, "Talent" topped its nearest rival by 44 percent, or more than 3.5 million persons in total viewers (11.6 million vs. 8.1 million for Fox from 8-10 p.m. with "Fringe" and "Hole in the Wall").

From 8-10 p.m. ET, "Talent" ranked #1 in total viewers, adults 25-54 (tied), women 18-49 and women 25-54.

Tuesday from 10-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.9/5 in 18-49, 7.6 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in adults 25-54 and total viewers.

NBC ranked #1 in primetime Tuesday night in total viewers, women 18-49 and women 25-54.

On Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 8-10 p.m. ET, "America's Got Talent" (2.9/8 in 18-49, 11.7 million viewers overall) scored the highest 18-49 rating and biggest viewership for a Wednesday telecast of the current cycle, and, excluding Olympics, delivered NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the time period since January 23 and highest total viewership since January 2. Week-to-week, the Wednesday "Talent" gained 7 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.9 from a 2.7) and 14 percent in total viewers (to 11.7 million from 10.2 million). "Talent" ranked #1 in the two-hour time period in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures.

"America's Got Talent" was the #1 show on any network Wednesday night in total viewers, marking the second consecutive night that "Talent" topped all competition � including fall series premieres � in total viewers.

"Talent" on Wednesday generated a 45 percent improvement in adults 18-49 versus NBC's non-Olympics summer average in this time period prior to "Talent's" Wednesday debut (2.9 vs. 2.0).

Wednesday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (2.1/6 in 18-49, 7.1 million viewers overall) won the hour in adults, men and women 18-49 and other key demographic measures. "CI" captured NBC's highest non-Olympic 18-49 rating in the slot since June 11 and biggest non-Olympic audience since June 4 (excluding sustaining news convention coverage)

On Thursday, Sept. 11 from 8-8:30 p.m. ET, a special "America's Got Talent" results show (2.4/8 in 18-49, 9.8 million viewers overall) attracted the highest overall viewership of any show on any network Thursday night, marking the third consecutive night that "Talent" was the most-watched program on television. In the time period, "Talent" ranked #1 in total viewers, with NBC's top results in the slot, excluding sports, since March 27, and was #2 in adults 18-49, with NBC's best non-sports rating in the slot since May 15. At 8:30 p.m., an encore telecast of "My Name is Earl" delivered a 1.6/5 in 18-49 and 5.2 million viewers overall.

Thursday at 9 p.m., an encore telecast of "The Office" averaged a 1.9/5 in 18-49 and 4.4 million viewers overall. At 9:30 p.m., a second rebroadcast of "The Office" (2.1/6 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall) built by 11 percent in 18-49 rating on its lead-in from the previous half-hour. "The Office" encores ranked #2 in the 9-10 p.m. hour in adults 18-34 and key adult-male demos.

At 10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "30 Rock" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 3.4 million viewers overall) ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in adults and men 18-34. At 10:30 p.m., a rebroadcast of "The Office" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in adults and men 18-34.

On Friday, Sept. 12 from 8-9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "America's Toughest Jobs" averaged a 1.0/4 in 18-49 and 3.2 million viewers overall, up 11 percent in 18-49 and 12 percent in total viewers versus the last "Jobs" encore to run in this slot (0.9/3 in 18-49 and 2.9 million viewers on August 29). From 9-11 p.m., "Dateline NBC" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall) matched NBC's highest non-Olympic 18-49 rating in this time period since June 6.

On Saturday, Sept. 13 from 8-9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Chuck" averaged a 0.8/3 in 18-49 and 2.3 million viewers overall. At 9 p.m., a rebroadcast of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" delivered a 1.0/3 in 18-49 and 4.2 million viewers overall, up 25 percent in 18-49 versus last week's encore telecast in this time period.

Saturday at 10 p.m. ET, "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (1.5/4 in 18-49, 5.6 million viewers overall) delivered NBC's highest non-Olympic results in both 18-49 and total viewers in this time period since June 14. The 10 p.m. "Criminal Intent" built on its lead-in from the previous hour by 50 percent in 18-49 and 31 percent or 1.4 million persons in total viewers.

On Sunday, Sept. 14, the "NBC Sunday Night Football" telecast of the Pittsburgh Steelers at the Cleveland Browns propelled NBC to a convincing Sunday win by all key measures. For its full duration, the Steelers-Browns game averaged a 7.2/19 in adults 18-49, 17.8 million viewers overall and a 10.8/18 household rating/share from 8:23-11:15 p.m. ET.

Sunday's Steelers-Browns game was up 11 percent in 18-49 rating and 16 percent or more than 2.5 million persons in total viewers versus the comparable "Sunday Night Football" game last year (a 6.5/17 in 18-49 and 15.3 million viewers overall for the San Diego Chargers versus the New England Patriots on September 16, 2007).

For the night (from 7:30-11 p.m. ET), NBC averaged a 6.3/17 in 18-49 and 15.6 million viewers overall, up 13 percent in 18-49 rating and 16 percent in total viewers versus the same night last year.

NBC won the night by all key ratings measures. In adults 18-49, NBC's margin of victory over the #2 network was 91 percent in 18-49 (6.3 vs. a 3.3 for CBS from 7-11 p.m.) and by 43 percent, or 4.7 million persons in total viewers (15.6 million vs. 10.9 million for CBS).

Also on Sunday, "Football Night in America 2" from 7:30-7:57 p.m. ET averaged a 2.2/6 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall and a 3.3/6 household rating/share. "Football Night in America 3" from 7:57-8:15 p.m. delivered a 4.4/13 in 18-49, 10.8 million viewers overall and a 6.4/11 in households. From 8:15-8:23 p.m., "NBC Sunday Night Football Pre Kickoff" averaged a 5.3/15 in 18-49, 13.6 million viewers overall and a 7.9/11 in households. Note: "Football Night in America" from 7-7:30 p.m. ET was sustaining programming and does not figure in the nightly or weekly primetime averages.

This marks NBC's seventh consecutive Sunday primetime win in adults 18-49.
