By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

ENLIGHTENED (HBO) - Mos Def ("Something the Lord Made") has joined the cast of the upcoming comedy, about "a self-destructive woman who has a spiritual awakening and decides to live an enlightened life, which creates havoc at home and work." He'll play her new boss when she returns to work. Amy Hill, Charles Esten, Diane Ladd, Luke Wilson and Sarah Burns also star in the half-hour, which comes from creator Mike White.

LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT (NBC) - Paula Patton ("Precious") is reportedly being tapped as the show's latest assistant district attorney. She'll take over for Sharon Stone and Stephanie March, who filled said void this past season. No details about her character however were given.

RESCUE ME (FX) - Denis Leary and Jim Serpico's Apostle is said to be close to signing two-year overall deals with CBS Television Studios and Fox Television Studios. The pact comes on the heels of Sony Pictures Television opting not to renew their current overall status, where it had been based since 2003. The CBS Television Studios deal is exclusive to broadcast series and Showtime while Fox Television Studios' pact is specific to cable.

TERRA NOVA (FOX) - Jon Cassar ("24") is the latest addition to the much-ballyhooed drama, which follows an ordinary family embarking on an incredible journey back in time to prehistoric Earth as a small part of a massive experiment to save the human race. There he'll serve as executive producer and in-house director where he'll reunite with "24" alums Brandon Braga and David Fury. Alex Graves is helming the pilot. Steven Spielberg, Peter Chernin, Aaron Kaplan, Craig Silverstein, Kelly Marcel, Katherine Pope, Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank also serve as executive producers.

THE WRECK (AMC, New!) - Director John Lee Hancock ("The Blind Side") is developing a new football-centric drama at the cable channel about "the high-profile head coach of a once-legendary team that has just finished a losing season [who gets] one last chance to turn the team into winners or he's fired." Graham Gordy and Michael Fuller co-wrote the hour for Anonymous Content where they'll executive produce alongside Hancock.
