CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- CBS is going back to an old launch strategy for "Survivor: All-Stars," the eighth edition of its popular reality series: a post-Super Bowl start.
The new edition will kick off on Sunday, February 1 following CBS' coverage of Super Bowl XXXVIII (approximately 10:15/9:15c). The Eye previously launched the second season of the series, "The Australian Outback," in 2001 after Super Bowl XXXV. The strategy worked as the episode scored a monster 45.37 million viewers.
The latest installment will feature "18 of the most memorable, entertaining and controversial castaways from previous SURVIVOR editions. The series' best strategists, survivalists and personalities will collide with the winner earning $1 million and the title of the 'Ultimate Sole Survivor,'" according to a network press release. The "all-star" cast will be announced at a later date.
