CBS' 'Race' Extended for Sixth Leg

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- CBS isn't waiting for the results of the fifth season of "The Amazing Race" as industry insiders have confirmed the Eye has already moved forward with a sixth edition of the series.

Production apparently began early last month on the new season, which will likely air during midseason in 2005 or next summer.

Season five of "Race" kicks off with a special 90-minute episode on Tuesday, July 6 at 9:30/8:30c.

Bertram van Munster and Jerry Bruckheimer of the latter's Bruckheimer Films executive produce the series in association with Touchstone Television.
