Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law to Make DVD Debut April 12

TVs first winged cartoon lawyer will make his DVD debut on Tuesday, April 12, when Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law: Volume One reaches stores. The hit Adult Swim series comes to DVD with the first 13 episodes, plus loads of extras.

List price for the two-disc Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law: Volume One set released, by Cartoon Network and Warner Home Video, is $29.98.

When all the superhero work dried up, Harvey Birdman pursued another valued profession: the law. Hes traded the Hall of Justice for Sebben & Sebben, and hes carved out a niche handling all the firms cartoon litigation. Which is not as easy as it seems, when youve got to keep Shaggy and Scooby out of jail or defend Speed Buggy after a high-speed chase. Throw in an empty personal life, a ball-busting boss, a psychotic legal assistant and a very persistent enemy from the old days and things are not always rosy. No wonder he likes to drop by The Birdcage for a few drinks every now and again. But it could be worse; Harvey Birdman still gets to wear his cowl.

The first Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law DVD set, a two-disc volume, will be released in conjunction with Space Ghost Coast to Coast: Volume Three. The set has a running time of 154 minutes and will be loaded with features, including:

- The first 13 episodes, including Bannon Custody Trial, Shaggy Busted and The Dabba Don.

- Deleted scenes from Deadomutt and Trios Company

- Casting outtakes from potential Harveys Stephen Colbert and Todd Barry

- Commentaries on five episodes, including commentary from Turner Broadcastings standards and practices and legal departments on The Devlin Made Me Do It

- Pencil test and final animation on Shaggy Busted.

- Behind-the-scenes production materials;

- A live-action re-creation of the opening sequence; and much more.

Adult Swim features animated programming aimed at adults, including edgy original comedies like Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab 2021 and Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law; popular favorites Futurama and Family Guy; and riveting action/adventure series such as Cowboy Bebop, InuYasha and Trigun. The block, which airs Saturday-Thursday from 11 p.m.-2 a.m. (ET, PT), with a replay from 2 a.m.-5 a.m. (ET, PT), has been a hit since its debut in September 2001. Adult Swim regularly ranks as the #1 show on cable among adults 18-24, adults 18-34, men 18-24 and men 18-34 and often beats its broadcast competitors among young adults.

Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law made its debut in 2001. The series, created by Michael Ouweleen and Erik Richter, has been building its audience this year as part of the Sunday night lineup, increasing its audience of adults 18-24 by 19% and adults 18-2 by 57% in 2005-to-date. Back-to-back episodes of Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law will air in strip Monday-Wednesday beginning April 25.

A critical favorite since its debut, Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law was dubbed a bizarre, Monty Python-esqe romp through animation history, by The Village Voice. The Detroit Free Press said it was guilty of being sublimely ridiculous and sweetly deranged. Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law is deeply entertaining and decidedly surreal, according to Salon.com, while TV Guide said the show is a crazy quilt of animated nostalgia and pointed, contemporary satire.
