Law & Order: The Third Year, the latest DVD collection to be released by Universal Studios Home Entertainment, contains all 22 exciting episodes of the first season to introduce Jerry Orbach as the cynical, wisecracking Detective Lennie Briscoe. It also contains a special tribute to the late Mr. Orbach, as well as a memorable profile of this distinguished and beloved star of stage and screen. Also featured in the exceptional Season Three cast are Chris Noth, Dann Florek, Michael Moriarty, Paul Sorvino, Richard Brooks and Steven Hill. Guest appearances include Claire Danes (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet), Gina Torres (The Matrix Reloaded, "24"), Chris Bauer ("Tilt," "Third Watch") and Elaine Stritch (Small Time Crooks, Screwed) whose guest performance won an Emmy. The collectible three-disc set, which also features never-before-seen deleted scenes, is priced at $59.98 SRP. Street date is May 24, 2005.

SYNOPSIS

Powerful, timely and gripping, Law & Order has become television's most celebrated and widely acclaimed crime series of all time. With intriguing storylines that echo controversial real-life cases, each captivating episode follows a single crime from the start of the police investigation through its resolution in court. In Law & Order: The Third Year, New York police officers, played by Jerry Orbach, Chris North and Paul Sorvino, uncover evidence later used by prosecutors Steven Hill, Michael Moriarty and Richard Brooks to bring the perpetrators to justice. Episodes include "Conspiracy," which won the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best Episode in a TV Series, and "Point of View" the first show to feature Orbach's unforgettable Detective Lenny Briscoe character.
