UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. -- August 30, 2005 -- The newest DVD collection of NBC's highly rated crime series Law & Order: SVU hits retail shelves September 27, 2005, from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Spawned from one of the most successful brands in television history, creator-executive producer Dick Wolf's Law & Order: SVU has consistently captivated viewers and critics alike with its provocative storylines ripped straight from today's headlines. With fans of the show demonstrating a tremendous appetite for Law & Order programming, viewers can truly enjoy the additional bonus materials and extensive behind-the-scenes footage exclusive to the DVD.

The ten-time Emmy-nominated series chronicles the gritty, day-to-day world of the New York Police Department's elite Special Victims Unit and stars Christopher Meloni as Detective Elliot Stabler and Mariska Hargitay in her Golden Globe Award-winning role as Detective Olivia Benson. Season Two also features the addition of Ice-T as Detective Odafin Tutuola and B.D Wong as forensic psychiatrist George Huang. Dann Florek, Richard Belzer and Stephanie March round out the powerful cast of Law & Order: SVU-The Second Year, which also boasts a star-studded guest roster including Eric Roberts, Margot Kidder, Richard Thomas, Karen Allen, Chad Lowe and others. Timed to coincide with the September 20, 2005, Law & Order: SVU Season Seven premiere on NBC, the three-disc collection arrives in stores on September 27, 2005 priced at $59.98 SRP.

The brainchild of Law & Order brand creator-executive producer Dick Wolf, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has consistently been one of NBC's top performers, and regularly wins its Tuesday time period, monopolizing audiences by a wide margin in ratings, share and demographics. The series also continues to break records with its dual-window USA Network airings, and has been renewed through 2006. This year the show received three Emmy Award nominations, one for Hargitay (her second) as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and two for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series category (Amanda Plummer and Angela Lansbury). Wolf's additional series, the original Law & Order and Law & Order: Criminal Intent, have met with equally loyal popular and critical acclaim and their highly collectible full season DVD collections have been consistent best sellers. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is a Wolf Films production in association with NBC Universal Television Studio.
