NEW YORK, September 19, 2006 -- Comedian Rob Riggle joins the illustrious ranks of fake news reporters as part of the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" joining current correspondents Dan Bakkedahl, Samantha Bee, Jason Jones and John Oliver to form the heart of the "Daily Show" News Team. Riggle's first appearance will be in-studio later this week. "The Daily Show" airs Monday through Thursday at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Riggle was born in Louisville, KY and raised in Overland Park, KS. He is a former U.S. Marine who rose to the rank of Major and was awarded over 18 medals and ribbons. After serving his country, he began performing sketch and improv comedy in New York and Los Angeles and has done so for the past eight years. He also appeared in this summer's "Talladega Nights: The Legend of Ricky Bobby," starring Will Ferrell.

In addition to his appearance this week and in subsequent shows, Riggle will be a part of the team traveling to the heart of America's most hotly contested swing state to cover the midterm elections. "Battlefield Ohio: 'The Daily Show's' Midwest Midterm Midtacular" will be taped at the Roy Bowen Theatre at the Ohio State University and will air nightly at 11:00 p.m. from Monday, October 30 through Thursday, November 2.
