'Chapapote', the New Film by Daniel Sánchez Arévalo and Starring Tamar Novas, Begins Filming

Netflix has announced the start of filming and cast of Chapapote, the new film by Daniel Sánchez Arévalo (Collision Course, Band Together). Produced by Bambú Producciones, the comedy stars Tamar Novas (The sea inside, Gangs of Galicia), with Carlos Blanco (The Asunta case, Riot Police), María Vázquez (Matria, Band Together), Alexandra Jiménez (Proxies, Go Team!), Irene Arcos (The Pier, Alpha Males) and Fer Fraga (Unprotected: Murder in Galicia) rounding out the cast, alongside a special appearance by Antonio Durán "Morris" (Fariña, Animal).

The year is 2002. The oil tanker Prestige breaks in two off the Galician coast, and an oil slick covers its beaches. All of them, that is, except one: the beach in the small town of Agarimo. What should be great news for its residents ends up becoming a problem. Although the oil spill hasn't reached their beach, they can't go out fishing, they receive no aid, and none of the thousands of volunteers pouring into neighboring towns come their way. With businesses empty and the future looking bleaker by the day, the people of Agarimo come up with an idea that is as outlandish as it is desperate: if the oil spill won't reach their beach, perhaps they'll have to bring it there themselves.

Directed by Daniel Sánchez Arévalo (Seventeen, Band Together), Chapapote is based on an original idea by Ramón Campos (Band Together, Collision, The Asunta Case), who wrote the screenplay with Sánchez Arévalo and also serves as executive producer. The crew includes Rafa García as director of photography, Eva Camino as costume designer, Antonio Pereira as production designer, Miguel Sanz as editor and Federico Jusid as composer of the original score.
