Successful psychiatrist Dr. Richard Clayton (Livingston) sets out on a voyage to find his birth parents and winds up in unfamiliar territory. He discovers the Manuers (DeVito and Bates), a raunchy couple who don't quite fit into Richard's picture perfect life. Regardless, the classless parents promptly move in to their newfound son's luxurious home. Will Richard be able to cope with his new family ties or will the tightly wound shrink loose his marbles?
