GSN's 'NATIONAL VOCABULARY CHAMPIONSHIP' Airs Sunday, April 15

One-Hour Special Gives Viewers a Behind-the-Scenes Look at the First-Ever National Vocabulary Competition That Awards Top High School Word Whiz $40,000 Toward College Tuition

'Win With Words Week' Features Special GSN Game Shows With Students and Teachers to Lead Up to the NVC Premiere

SANTA MONICA, Calif., April 9 -- GSN will air the first-ever NATIONAL VOCABULARY CHAMPIONSHIP as a one-hour special Sunday, April 15 at 8:00 PM ET/7:00 PM CT. Hosted by Dylan Lane, the premiere caps off the network's "Win With Words Week," themed programming which features teachers and students competing in special episodes of GSN's original game shows, including LINGO and CHAIN REACTION.

THE NATIONAL VOCABULARY CHAMPIONSHIP gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the first-ever nationwide vocabulary competition, held last month in New York City. The documentary follows 50 student finalists from across the country in their quest to be named 'National Vocabulary Champion' and their shot at the grand prize of $40,000 toward college tuition. The program features competition game play, personal interviews with contestants, and hometown visits with the winner and runners-up that give some insight into their lives and the road to success.

Contestants who participated in the National Vocabulary Championship qualified through either live citywide vocabulary competitions or online at http://www.winwithwords.com, and regional exams administered at The Princeton Review testing sites around the country.

The National Vocabulary Championship has garnered support from institutions such as the National Education Association, the Cable Television Public Affairs Association and Cable in the Classroom. GSN encourages teachers and students to watch the special and be inspired to participate in the 2007/2008 National Vocabulary Championship program.

About the "National Vocabulary Championship"

The National Vocabulary Championship (NVC) is a GSN initiative that uses competition and wordplay to engage and reward high school students, educators and parents, teaching them the value of a strong vocabulary. Created with educational partner The Princeton Review, the NVC is open to eligible high school students in the 50 states and the District of Columbia and is promoted in schools and through a national "Win With Words" public service announcement campaign. In addition, a robust, interactive website (http://www.winwithwords.com) offers a variety of free vocabulary-enhancing tools, word games and study materials.

GSN is the entertainment industry leader in multi-platform interactive game programs. GSN features challenging word games, high intensity casino programs, live participation shows, reality series and documentaries. Complementing the network, GSN.com features all types of game play: innovative Flash games, skill cash tournaments and downloadable games. The website also features GSN's two-screen interactive play-along for prime time shows. In more than 63 million homes, GSN is distributed in the U.S. through all major cable systems and satellite providers. The network is jointly owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Liberty Media Corporation. For further media information, visit GSN's press website at corp.gsn.com.
