TURN ON YOUR MENCIA-VISION AND WATCH AS CARLOS MENCIA REVEALS THE WINNER OF THE "SO YOU THINK YOU CAN RANT" CONTEST SUNDAY, JULY 22 AT 10:00 P.M.
NEW YORK, July 19, 2007 -- It was a close race and Carlos Mencia is going to reveal the winner of the "So You Think You Can Rant" contest on his groundbreaking COMEDY CENTRAL show "Mind of Mencia" on Sunday, July 22 at 10:00 p.m. Not only will Mencia announce and air the winning rant on his show, but the winning video will also be featured on the "Mind of Mencia" Web site and blog. The "So You Think You Can Rant" contest, which ran on the Web site from May 11-June 1, challenged Mencia viewers to go to www.comedycentral.com and submit videos of themselves performing their own 30-second rant -- similar to Mencias trademark "Mencia Minute" rant videos that he posts on the site.
The contest was the perfect opportunity for viewers to share their thoughts on any subject and pay homage to the king of rants. Mencia announced the competition during the May 12 episode and again in the "Best of" episode on May 20. Even though the contest has ended, users can still submit their rants online, as well as watch the other rant videos. Submissions may be reviewed and posted at http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/mind_of_mencia/index.jhtml.
"Mind of Mencia" airs regularly Sundays at 10:00 p.m. on COMEDY CENTRAL, with encore presentations of the show on Sundays at midnight.
This fall, Mencia will star opposite Ben Stiller and Michelle Monaghan in "The Heartbreak Kid," as Uncle Tito, the sarcastic and colorful manager of the hotel where Stiller's character stays on his honeymoon with the woman he hastily married (Malin Akerman). The DreamWorks film, directed by Peter and Bobby Farrelly, is slated for release October 2007. Recently, Mencia's DVD release "Carlos Mencia: No Strings Attached" hit platinum status in sales. Last fall, Mencia completed the highly successful "The Punisher Tour," a sold-out headlining stand-up tour of over 60 cities. The tour sold more than 270,000 tickets, making it the biggest tour of any Latino comedian to date.
Credits for "Mind of Mencia" include Carlos Mencia, Robert Morton and Brian Hartt as executive producers with Lee Kernis and Tim Sarkes from Brillstein Entertainment Partners serving as producers. Zoe Friedman is the executive in charge of production for COMEDY CENTRAL.
