NEW YORK, October 9, 2007 -- COMEDY CENTRAL is proud to announce comedian Mo Mandel as the grand prize winner of "Open Mic Fight," the network's multi-platform, national stand-up competition.

Mandel's "Open Mic Fight" grand prize consists of an appearance in a COMEDY CENTRAL stand-up show, featured video exposure on comedycentral.com, he will perform as the opening act on a COMEDY CENTRAL Live Tour, inclusion as a "Featured Comic" on iTunes and Mobile platforms beginning today, October 9, Video-On-Demand beginning Monday, October 22, representation for live performance by the Gersh agency and $10,000 in cash.

The "Open Mic Fight" contest consisted of several rounds of competition beginning with a preliminary round of 72 regional finalists selected by COMEDY CENTRAL from the pool of videotaped and uploaded submissions received. The regional finalists compteted in one of nine regional stand-up competitions held in the following cities: Boston, New York, Miami, Chicago, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Austin and San Francisco.

One winner from each regional competition was selected to advance to the semi-final live event on September 6 in Los Angeles for the chance to be designated one of the top three finalists. Mo Mandel won the San Francisco regional competition, advancing him to this next round. Runners-up from each regional show were selected and posted online; viewers voted for three additional Viewers Choice contenders to travel to LA and compete in the semi-final event. At the semi-finals, three finalists were selected by judges and performance clips of each were posted on comedycentral.com for viewers to watch and vote for the ultimate "Open Mic Fight" winner.

After taking third place in the prestigious San Francisco International Comedy Competition in 2006, San Francisco native Mo Mandel said goodbye to his day job and began touring comedy clubs nationwide. He has performed at Carolines On Broadway, The San Francisco Punchline, Cobb�s Comedy Club, Gotham Comedy Club, The Seattle Underground, The Hollywood Improv, as well as many other prestigious venues. Mandel has also shared the stage with the likes of Dave Attell, Dana Carvey, Craig Ferguson, Patrice O�Neal and Jim Norton, among others.
