"20/20" ANNOUNCES JANUARY PROGRAMMING

From the dirty tricks presidential campaigns play on one another to the ultimate pursuit of happiness, "20/20" reports on what you need to know in 2008. All shows air 10:00 11:00 p.m. ET on the ABC Television Network.

* FRIDAY, JANUARY 4: The presidential race is in full swing and so are the dirty tricks that the campaigns are playing. Brian Ross reports on the dirt campaigns are planting about their rival candidates, and other tricks as primaries and caucuses near.

Additionally, "20/20" reports on three extraordinary people living with and conquering challenges: a supermodel born without an ear; a skateboarder born without legs; and an African American television anchor whose skin is turning white.

* FRIDAY, JANUARY 11: Wouldn't you like to be happier? The pursuit of happiness is guaranteed in the Declaration of Independence. "Happiness committees" are popping up across corporate America while "positive psychology" becomes the most popular course on campus and a best-selling topic in bookstores. When it comes to happiness, we are all in full pursuit... but can it be caught and held? Can it be measured, studied and nurtured? Bill Weir reports on how to get happy, the science of happiness how we are hard wired for unhappiness and the extremes people will go to achieve happiness. Weir also visits the happiest places on earth, and these countries might surprise anyone. Why is America so far down on the list of happy places?

* FRIDAY, JANUARY 18: "20/20" investigates the most unlikely victims of anorexia and eating disorders: moms. The report highlights ingenious therapies that turn skeletal bodies into healthy women. Dr. Tim Johnson reports. (Additional reports to be announced.)

"20/20" is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and John Stossel. David Sloan is executive producer.
