EMERIL LAGASSE SHARES PHILOSOPHY FOR FRESH FOODS WITH NEW SERIES, EMERIL GREEN

-- EMERIL GREEN World Premieres Monday, July 14, 2008, at 8 PM (ET/PT) --

SILVER SPRING, Md., June 16, 2008 For more than 30 years, celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse has been using organically and locally grown foods in his restaurants and his personal kitchen. Now, he is sharing his philosophy for fresh, top-quality foods with Planet Green viewers in the new, original series EMERIL GREEN, airing Monday through Thursday at 8 and 8:30 PM (ET/PT) beginning Monday, July 14, 2008.

Many Americans are unsure about the best ways to cook with organic and locally grown foods owing to lack of information about recipes or sources. In EMERIL GREEN, Lagasse shares how the best meals start with high-quality produce, seafood and meats, and helps to inspire families by using fresh and seasonal ingredients to solve their food dilemmas.

Set in Whole Foods Market, Chef Lagasse and the store's knowledgeable team and other food experts help real-life cooking-challenged individuals shop for and hand-pick the best foods. Lagasse and the Whole Foods Market team explain the difference between organic, locally grown and seasonal, and tackle questions about quality, cost and taste while even braving some daunting food dares to help viewers face their culinary fears with an open mind and a healthy curiosity.

After shopping for fresh, top-quality ingredients, Chef Lagasse prepares a meal with each individual that demonstrates the convenience and ease of using organic and locally grown foods in everyday meals. In a few episodes, Emeril will consult with health experts to tackle the challenge of using fresh ingredients in recipes that are designed to address specific dietary needs such as diabetes and weight management.

Lagasse began his career working in a Portuguese bakery in Fall River, Mass., while attending Johnson and Wales University's famous culinary program. After graduation, he studied classic French cuisine and after stints in New York and Boston moved to New Orleans, where he became famous for his love of the freshest products. Lagasse is now the chef/proprietor of 10 restaurants across the country and remains as devoted as ever to using fresh, top-quality ingredients and employing cottage industry ranchers, farmers and fishermen to ensure that he delivers the best to his customers. He constantly invents new recipes, much to the delight of his regular guests and the fans of his shows "Emeril Live" and "Essence of Emeril" on Food Network and Fine Living.

EMERIL GREEN is produced for Planet Green by Karen Katz, longtime executive producer of "Emeril Live" with her production company, After Five Productions. EMERIL GREEN is produced in association with Discovery Studios. Christine Weber is executive producer for Discovery Studios. Howard Lee is vice president of production and Lisa Caruso is executive producer for Planet Green.
